About Me
My name is Lei Shan, and I am a dedicated engineer with a passion for innovation and technology. I graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in Engineering, where I gained a solid foundation in the field's theoretical and practical aspects. With over seven years of experience in high-traceability outdoor manufacturing environments, including working with bike racks and luggage, I bring a unique perspective to the engineering challenges I tackle. My professional journey has also taken me through fashion manufacturing and visiting the Gulfstream factory, enriching my understanding of diverse manufacturing processes.
I am expanding my expertise into the aerospace and artificial intelligence sectors. I acquired practical knowledge in using multimeters, 3D printing, MATLAB, and LabVIEW through my courses at Embry-Riddle. I am now furthering my education as a Master of Science student in Artificial Intelligence at the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering.
In my free time, I enjoy biking and playing soccer, activities that keep me energized and inspired. I am committed to continuous learning and innovatively applying my skills to solve complex problems.
NASA Tour Oct 2024
In Oct 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to explore NASA's work at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL! Highlights included the ISS Payload Operations Center and connecting with teams driving next-gen space projects. Big thanks to NASA/MSFC rep Michael Smith!
Boeing MRO JAX Tour
- July 2024
In July 2024, I joined fellow Embry-Riddle students on a tour of Boeing's MRO facility in Jacksonville, FL. We saw cutting-edge modifications of the KC-46A Pegasus tanker and the F/A-18 Super Hornet used by the Blue Angels. This visit provided valuable insight into advanced aviation technology.
Gulfstream Aerospace Visit - January 2024
I had an incredible experience visiting Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA, in January 2024 with fellow students and faculty from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Seeing the passion for aviation in action was inspiring, and learning more about the industry. A special thank you to Matthew Barker (Gulfstream development manager), Arnold James, Rose Carlson, MM/HRM, CCSP, GCDF, and the entire career and alums services team for making this visit possible and their dedication to helping students like me explore our future career paths in aviation.
